Welcome to Chair to Chair—a space where the conversations flow from the salon floor to the house floor (OR statehouse).

For years, my success as a stylist has depended on one essential skill: listening.

In the salon, listening is everything. The salon chair becomes a trusted space, where I step into the role of “hairapist” — hearing about life’s highs and lows, everyday concerns, and personal victories. It’s in these moments that I’m most honored to serve, not just as a stylist, but as a confidante and community member.

Legislatively, that same spirit of listening drives my work. The trust built in the salon echoes into the Capitol, where I continue to listen — this time about policy, challenges facing our communities, and the needs of the people I’ve come to know so well. I’ve found that good leadership starts the same way.

From the styling chair to the legislative chair, this space–Chair 2 Chair–brings those two worlds together. What I’ve learned from both seats — stylist and state rep — and the people who’ve trusted me in each.

Whether it’s lessons from behind the salon chair or from the House floor, I hope these reflections offer connection, inspiration, and a little bit of style.
